THE PLACE
The charming building that today houses Relais & Châteaux Le Bistrot Français was the former residence of the French architect Albert Galleron, who, on the recommendation of his colleague Charles Garnier – the creator of the Paris Opera House – was chosen to design the Romanian Athenaeum. The young architect was not new to Bucharest; he had already impressed clients with another remarkable building, renowned for its grandeur: the National Bank Palace.
